As a result of funds raised through the Capital Campaign, many improvements have been made to our facility, including the purchase of new desks and chairs, refurbishment of the high school common areas, installation of new playground equipment, and replacement of windows at various locations, to name just a few. Over the next 6 months, the school will complete several more renovations, in three distinct phases:
| 1) |
Enclosing the arcade between the lower school and high school buildings: This renovation will be immediately noticeable to students when they arrive back to school after the spring recess. Unifying our buildings and creating a level of security which has not existed in the past, exterior doors (located at either end of this new “hallway”) will provide access to both the lower and high school buildings. In the short-term, these doors will remain open throughout the day. However, once the main entrance is relocated, these exterior doors will be open only during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal hours. Completion of this project is an important step in increasing the overall safety of our school campus. |

Creation of a new main entrance: During late April and into early May, the School’s main entrance will be moved to what is now the preschool lobby. More conveniently located for daily visitors, this entrance will be staffed throughout the day. Due to the timing of other projects, the renovation must take place while school is in session, and will involve replacing the sidewalk and installing new doors. As a result, there may be some inconvenience as this exterior entrance will be closed during the renovation period. More information will follow shortly regarding the exact timing of this project, and we will coordinate our construction efforts with the preschool faculty to ensure a seamless drop-off/pick-up for the school’s youngest students. The final portion of this project includes replacing ceiling and lighting in the lobby, and installing a reception desk for greeting visitors throughout the day. |

Renovation of the Library: This final project begins immediately after school ends in June and will continue throughout the summer months. All library books are to be moved to temporary storage later this spring. We are excited at the prospect of sharing this newly renovated library space with our families when you arrive back to school in September! Mark your calendars now as we look forward to a grand opening of the library at the Fall Fair and Alumni Day on Saturday, October 25th! |

As you can see, there is a great deal to be accomplished over the next few months. We will do everything possible to minimize the inconvenience to our families and will keep you regularly informed as to the status of ongoing renovations by letter, by email, and through updates posted on this page of our website. While there will be some moments of inconvenience, the result of these important projects will be a safer, more beautiful and more productive space for all of our students. Thank you for your patience throughout this process.
Over the coming weeks and months, a number of major construction projects will take place at the school.
In May, the school's 14,000 volumes will take an early summer vacation from our library as we prepare for our last and most anticipated Capital Campaign project – the library reconstruction!
All of this work will impact pedestrian and vehicular traffic. More information and important safety announcements regarding these campus projects will be announced here, in upcoming letters and in upcoming issues of The News and The Annual Report.
