Date: Saturday - June 08, 2013
Time: 8:00 PM
Location: School Auditorium

The Class of 2013 will present The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder.

It is a tradition at the Waldorf School of Garden City for classes to perform a play in their senior year, entertaining parents, friends, students and the community at large. In just a few weeks, the Class of 2013 will perform The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder. The class of twenty-eight students will perform three times:

All three performances will take place in the school auditorium and are open to the public. Admission is free, but there is a suggested donation of $5.00 per person or $15.00 per family. In addition to these performances, the class will give a special performance on Thursday, June 6th to the pre-school through the third grade.

High School English and Drama teacher, as well as director of the play, Mrs. Deirdre Burns Somers said, "The play provides a wonderful contrast between the typical American family that everyone can identify with and the craziness that goes through the mind of each human when the unexpected occurs."

The play The Skin of Our Teeth follows the Antrobus family through the ages as they live through flood, fire, locusts, the ice age, numerous wars, and much more. The family, who are said to be the offspring of Adam and Eve, has survived the end of the world thousands of times by the skin of their teeth. The production is a comedic fantasy that is sure to entertain every "Adam and Eve."

It is an integral part of the Waldorf curriculum to stimulate growth and confidence in a student’s mind with activities that are presented in creative and exciting forms such as plays. For this intense and comprehensive experience, the students are given a great deal of responsibility as they carry out all aspects of the production.
