On Wednesday, April 24, 2013, the High School’s Contemporary Issues through Film class went to the Brooklyn Grange in Long Island City (http://www.brooklyngrangefarm.com) –a multi-acre farm on a roof top, one of the largest in the world. The class prepared for the visit by watching and discussing issues of environmental sustainability, particularly in an urban context, for several months. In tandem with the farm visit the class spent the afternoon at the High Line (http://www.thehighline.org)-- a public park built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. The class instructor, Dr. Chris Bleecker said: “Being able to see up close and personal something that the students were learning about was a vital addition to the experience of the class.”
