August 2014

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Summertime Greetings! In the coming days, you will receive by mail your Family Contact Form. The Family Contact Form serves two important purposes:

  • It provides vital contact information should the School need to reach you quickly. It also lets us know who your child may leave School with, should you not be available.
  • It ensures that our records include your preferred email and that you continue to receive important information from the School electronically.

Please review and update the Family Contact Form and return it to the School today. (If you have no changes, you do not need to return it.)

The online Parent Directory has been updated for the 2014-2015 school year and is available behind the online Parent Resources page. You can access the directory by clicking the Parent Directory link under “Handbooks & Directories” at If you do not know your username and password, click the “Forgot your username/password?” link towards the bottom of the screen and follow the instructions. Once inside the Parent Directory, you can also view a short instructional video on how to use the online parent directory as well as how to edit and hide your contact information. Please remember this directory is intended for school community use and should NOT be used for outside distribution or for solicitation purposes.

All handbooks – including the Parent Handbook – are available online under the “Useful Documents, Forms and Websites” page under the “Parents” section, or by clicking here.

The online calendar, which can be found at, is updated for the new school year and always has the most up-to-date information. A PDF version of the 2014-2015 print calendar is available by clicking here. You can also purchase the print calendar – complete with beautiful images from the School – for $10 from Mrs. Gina McCullough at the Reception Desk in the Main Entrance Lobby.

If at any point during the year you find you are not receiving School emails, or should you wish to change your contact information, please feel free to contact me at (516) 742-3434 Ext. 311 or via email at My best wishes to you and your family during these final weeks of the summer vacation.

We want students to meet exciting people, try something different, discover something about themselves, and see the world from a new perspective; put simply we want students to learn.

There is an inviting atmosphere throughout our school created by happy children, engaged families, and dedicated teachers. As a parent—the opportunity to self-select your child’s peer group, one which is aligned with your family’s values and outlook on the world, is amongst the most important educational decisions you can make.

We provide unparalleled opportunities for children, by immersing them in our working farm, outdoor adventures and a community of adults who respect the natural world.

We take the best of classical education and make it relevant by intertwining the arts with academics, resulting in a synergistic experience that creates deeper meaning. No other form of education provides for an academic experience this enriching, authentic and joyful.

We provide opportunities for children to be challenged while creating an environment that allows them to be healthy, satisfied, and productive community members.

Our school includes a 200-acre farm campus, organic gardens, and a community that values well-balanced children.
