I hope your summers have been healthy and happy. I have had a very good summer and am ready for 4th Grade! I know the children will amaze me when they come in to our classroom on September 3rd, and I look forward to our year together!
I am happy to welcome three new families to our community. The students are Kiara Barrera, Katherine Bates, and Brody Holohan.
Many things will fall into place quite easily this year. Your children will receive a letter in the mail from me explaining the start of our year. I know they will be excited to eat in the cafeteria. Please make sure to have money on their lunch-card and consult the menu together. Let them know your rules about purchasing drinks, snacks and desserts. I will help over-see the process, but the clearer you are with them, the better. Please encourage your child to pack his/her own healthy snacks and a re-usable water bottle. They are allowed to have a water bottle at their desks but not any other beverage.
Instruments and orchestra are also new and exciting! (Click here to read a letter from the School's orchestra director, Dr. Dale Stuckenbruck.) It will take a little time for that to fall into place. Please know that you may arrange lessons after school and outside of school as well.
I will send home a class schedule and homework guidelines on the first day of school. Please help your child take responsibility for both of these. A substantial folder, several Ticonderoga pencils, and book-bag will be needed ... please, no media messages on school supplies! The students’ pencil cases are at school. All other supplies will be provided for the students.
The first day of school does require assembly clothing. It will be tempting for the students to want to change after the assembly. I highly discourage this except for their shoes. We will have gym and gardening that day, but as long as they have sneakers, they will manage fine. The students will not change for gym this year but will need sneakers and appropriate clothing on gym days. Rain boots will also be needed for the playground and for gardening. Please consult the handbook for the dress-code.
I am sure there are more questions and concerns. You may call or e-mail me at anytime. Please also know that a good night’s sleep, a nice breakfast and a healthy snack are the most important supplies needed!
I plan to schedule a parent evening at the end of September and will let you know that date soon. I look forward to seeing your children and all of you!
