Summer at the Waldorf School is a day camp for boys and girls ages 3-13, and also a Counselor-in-Training program for 14-16 year olds. Offering both half and full day programs, flexible scheduling, a variety of quality activities and special events led by dedicated and talented counselors — the goal of the program is to create an atmosphere of lively, yet relaxed, summer fun. The majority of the summer staff is comprised of a combination of Waldorf School alumni, current students, and current Waldorf School teachers.

Full Day Program (ages 4-13, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm) includes a wide variety of activities designed to engage the interest and enthusiasm of children from preschool to middle school. In addition to activities led by their lead counselors, campers participate in tennis, arts & handwork, painting, yoga, music, sports & games, cooking, gardening, drama, swimming at Adelphi University, and outdoor water play. Special events include; Tie-Dye Week, Carnival Week and “Summertime Stars” talent show. Campers bring lunch from home each day, and the camp provides a mid-morning snack.

Half-Day Program (ages 3-5, 8:30 am to 12:00 pm or 9:00 am to 11:45 am) offers a rich play experience for the youngest campers. Activities include outdoor play in our preschool yards, watercolor painting, seasonal crafts, singing, cooking, story-telling, rhymes, verses and puppetry. Juice and a healthy mid-morning snack are provided. Four- and five-year-old campers also participate in our swimming program at Adelphi University.

Camp Glen Brook offers a summer residential camp program that weaves Waldorf education and traditional New England camping on a vibrant, diversified biodynamic farm in Marlborough, New Hampshire. The program is co-educational for children ages of 8-16. It consists of two three-week sessions for all ages. There are one and two-week sessions available for the campers in grades 3−4. We seek to inspire and empower children and teens with a sense of both comfort in the world and responsibility toward involved citizenship.

“ Glen Brook is truly magical. It is a place where you can stargaze in the meadows, run in the fields, watch the sunrise, dance in the rain, climb in the trees and harvest the vegetables you will eat for dinner. Glen Brook is a place where time stands still.”

– Student

Summer camp for ages 8 - 14 includes outdoor exploration, games, music, woodshop and sports. The Falcon Leadership Program, for ages 15 and 16, helps young people develop self-reliance, teamwork and leadership skills through a combination of stewardship activities and a wilderness trip program.

Campers reside by age and same sex groups in one of the large farmhouses or adjacent houses and cabins. Meals are shared family style. Whenever possible, the same counselors follow a group of campers over a period of years.

Camp Glen Brook is accredited by the American Camping Association.

CAMPUS LIFE

We want students to meet exciting people, try something different, discover something about themselves, and see the world from a new perspective; put simply we want students to learn.

PARENTS

There is an inviting atmosphere throughout our school created by happy children, engaged families, and dedicated teachers. As a parent—the opportunity to self-select your child’s peer group, one which is aligned with your family’s values and outlook on the world, is amongst the most important educational decisions you can make.

GREEN & ACTIVE

We provide unparalleled opportunities for children, by immersing them in our working farm, outdoor adventures and a community of adults who respect the natural world.

ACADEMICS

We take the best of classical education and make it relevant by intertwining the arts with academics, resulting in a synergistic experience that creates deeper meaning. No other form of education provides for an academic experience this enriching, authentic and joyful.

ADMISSIONS

We provide opportunities for children to be challenged while creating an environment that allows them to be healthy, satisfied, and productive community members.

THE BASICS

Our school includes a 200-acre farm campus, organic gardens, and a community that values well-balanced children.
