Dear Rising 9th and 12th Grade Parents, Guardians and Students:

Seventeen years ago, the Waldorf High School initiated its orientation program for freshmen at Camp Glen Brook in New Hampshire. Since then orientation has been a way to welcome new students and get reacquainted with old friends. At Glen Brook we will continue the tradition of having high school seniors and incoming freshmen anticipate the year ahead.

Our days together in New Hampshire are meant to be fun-filled, relaxing, and informative. There will be hiking, outdoor activities, discussion groups, informational sessions, and plenty of time to relax and get to know one another. No electronic devices of any type (including iPods and cell phones) are allowed on the trip.

Our chartered bus will be leaving the Waldorf School on Monday, August 31st at 9:00 a.m. and will be returning on Wednesday, September 2nd at 4:30 p.m. A suggested packing list (as well as daily schedule) can be found by clicking here. Pack lightly, it is a short trip. A picnic lunch will be served when we arrive at Glen Brook; students may bring snack items to eat on the bus or during our 15 minute stop at a roadside rest area.

If you have any dietary or health/allergy factors of which the staff should be aware, please complete this form. From the Health Office the following requirements must be met:

  • All medication for students must be labeled with specific instructions and the student’s name along with A Parent & Prescriber’s Authorization of Medication form completely filled out. The medication must be handed to a staff member before boarding the bus.
  • All students must have on file a completed Medical Form. Please complete and return all forms to the Health Office as soon as possible. No student will be allowed on the bus without all required Medical Forms!

If you are unable to attend or if you have any questions or concerns about this trip, please leave a message in the High School at (516) 742-3434 ext. 317, or reach me by e-mail at rrr@waldorfgarden.org.

We look forward to seeing you on August 31st! We ask that everyone arrive by 8:30 a.m., so that we may depart on time.

Sincerely,

Roland Rothenbucher

CAMPUS LIFE

We want students to meet exciting people, try something different, discover something about themselves, and see the world from a new perspective; put simply we want students to learn.

PARENTS

There is an inviting atmosphere throughout our school created by happy children, engaged families, and dedicated teachers. As a parent—the opportunity to self-select your child’s peer group, one which is aligned with your family’s values and outlook on the world, is amongst the most important educational decisions you can make.

GREEN & ACTIVE

We provide unparalleled opportunities for children, by immersing them in our working farm, outdoor adventures and a community of adults who respect the natural world.

ACADEMICS

We take the best of classical education and make it relevant by intertwining the arts with academics, resulting in a synergistic experience that creates deeper meaning. No other form of education provides for an academic experience this enriching, authentic and joyful.

ADMISSIONS

We provide opportunities for children to be challenged while creating an environment that allows them to be healthy, satisfied, and productive community members.

THE BASICS

Our school includes a 200-acre farm campus, organic gardens, and a community that values well-balanced children.
