Each child’s educational experience is significantly enhanced through their parent or guardian’s participation in the ongoing life of the school. Working together to provide activities and events, and as we gather in celebration of festivals and all-school assemblies, the school strives to provide a strong and wholesome model of community participation which is an essential part of Waldorf education. The faculty and staff support and encourage parent participation throughout the school.
VOLUNTEERISMis vital to the success of each class and the school as a whole. Parents can support the school by volunteering in the cafeteria, craft center, library, or by assisting with important outreach activities such as Open Houses or the Annual Phonathon. Within the individual classroom, parents can assist with special projects, activities or celebrations, as well as, chaperoning class trips. Parents are encouraged to speak with the class teacher about opportunities for volunteerism both inside and outside the classroom. Additionally, through the work of the Parent Association, certain grades are responsible for activities at specific school-wide events. The success of all these activities relies upon the spirit of goodwill and volunteerism of the parents.
THE CRAFT CENTER, located opposite the Admissions Office, provides our community with a resource for Waldorf-inspired toys, books, gifts and craft supplies. Organized and staffed by parent volunteers, the annual net profit from the Craft Center supports the Parent Association. The Craft Center also acts as a conduit for community activities, such as handcraft workshops for parents, etc.
