The faculty at the Waldorf School of Garden City are models for the kind of people we hope to graduate: bright, relentlessly curious, and cross-culturally fluent. They are committed teachers and scholars - people who want to help you develop personally and intellectually.

Maria earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education and Spanish education from Syracuse University and her master's from Queens College. She subsequently became a New York State Certified teacher in elementary education, secondary Spanish education, and ESL for nursery through grade 12. For over 20 years, Maria taught all ages including adults. She has been a natural childbirth educator, doula, and prenatal yoga instructor since 2001. Maria also started a Waldorf-inspired cooperative home-schooling group in Suffolk County. Maria has assisted in our Parent-Child program as well as in the nursery afternoon care program. In 2009, she completed the Winkler Center's Foundations Studies Program. She is currently enrolled in the Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Education Program at Sunbridge Institute.
