Deirdre earned her bachelor's in drama and master's in dramatic literature and criticism from Vassar College. While pursuing her graduate degree, she was the director of the Powerhouse Summer Theater and the New York Stage and Film apprentice training program. Deirdre also studied in England at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. In addition, she spent two years in Hong Kong working as a production manager for a corporate theatre company. Prior to joining the Waldorf School of Garden City, Deirdre worked as a set designer, costume designer, theater director, and teacher at Southside High School in Rockville Centre as well as teaching a course in educational theatre at Adelphi University's graduate education program. In 2002, she became a graduate of the Foundation Studies program. Recently, she completed coursework in the high school teacher training program at the Center for Anthroposophy in Wilton, New Hampshire. An artisan and partner in Somers Design Studio, she helps create custom made furniture and toys and assists with home restoration projects. Deirdre was an advisor to the class of 2006 and 2011.
