Inspiring Faculty, dedicated Staff

The faculty at the Waldorf School of Garden City are models for the kind of people we hope to graduate: bright, relentlessly curious, and cross-culturally fluent. They are committed teachers and scholars - people who want to help you develop personally and intellectually.

We cannot say enough about how profoundly your teachers will affect your life. Because of our size and small classes, you will get to know your teachers as human beings, and in turn, they will get to know you.

A teacher of the Suzuki method and traditional music lessons, Loren Kiyoshi Dempster is on the music faculty of the Music Conservatory of Westchester and the Waldorf School of Garden City. An active chamber musician, Loren uses a combination of cello, improvisation and the computer to create and perform music. As a cellist, composer and improviser, he performs with the Left Hand Path Ensemble, Trio Tritticali and Dan Joseph Ensemble. He won a Meet the Composer grant award in 2005 for his work with Chris Ferris and Dancers. Ever interested in the relationships between movement, space, and sound, Loren may be found creating or performing music for many choreographers including Merce Cunningham in the US and in New York City with Jonah Bokaer.
