A native of Maryland, Stevie earned her bachelor's in English literature from William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y. She worked for nine years in the field of special education, primarily with young, non-verbal autistic children and helped to establish a therapeutic nursery program where children were accompanied by their mothers throughout treatment. Stevie began assisting in the kindergarten while her daughters were enrolled and trained as a Waldorf early childhood teacher as well as completed her master's in remedial education at Sunbridge College.
