The eighth grade core math curriculum focuses on number systems other than base 10 and algebraic applications with rational numbers. Topics of review include number patterns, percents, proportions, the Pythagorean Theorem, and irrational numbers. The term concludes with an introduction to graphing linear equations and an introduction to polynomials.

Students review basic procedures for geometrical constructions and move on to examine the properties and common ratios for the five Platonic Solids: dodecahedron, hexahedron, tetrahedron, octahedron, and icosahedron.
