It was a solid performance by Waldorf’s Varsity Boys Soccer Team on Monday against Solomon Schechter that gave them a 06-00 win over the East Williston school. Waldorf came out flying and it wasn’t long until they netted their first goal. Freshman Jun Kil Seong, who was playing right wing for Waldorf, sent into the box a lovely cross that junior Deepjot Singh Sohal slotted home. Next it was senior Peter Escribano to get an assist to junior Daniel Macias, who nicely shot the ball by the Schechter goalie to make it 02-00 Waldorf.
Waldorf’s next goal was scored unassisted by Seong when he dribbled around the Schechter defense and clinically shot the ball home. It was then Escribano’s turn to get on the score sheet as he capitalized from Macias's cross into the box. It wasn’t long until Singh Sohal got back to scoring and made it 05-00 when he finished off an assist from sophomore Max Sapuppo. Schechter then held off until half time when Waldorf made a number of changes and gave a lot of their younger players minutes on the field.
The last goal of the game was scored by sophomore Max Sapuppo when headed home a terrific ball sent in by corner-kick-taker Escribano. This made it 6-0 Waldorf. Coach Flanagan was delighted with the team’s performance and very impressed with a number of the freshman and sophomores who came off the bench to contribute to the game. In particular, freshman Max Pascucci played extremely well on the right wing and exposed Schechter’s weak defense on a number of occasions.
