On Wednesday, October 9th, Waldorf's Varsity Boys Soccer Team played host to the Portledge School. In a very hard fought game, Waldorf triumphed over their rivals from Locust Valley in a 04-00 victory.
The first goal was scored after 32 minutes by defensive midfielder sophomore Max Sapuppo. Sapuppo took a shot from outside the box after it was poorly cleared by the Portledge defense. The second goal came at the beginning of the second half when junior Deepjot Singh Sohal shot from the far left corner sailed over Portledge’s goalkeeper and into the top right corner of the goal. It was a wonderful finish, from such a tough angle.
Sapuppo scored Waldorf’s 3rd goal of the game and his 2nd after 52 minutes. Singh Sohal squared the ball with Sapuppo just inside the box and Sapuppo found the back of the net with power, leaving the Portledge goalkeeper helpless. Waldorf’s final goal came from co-captain and senior Peter Escribano after 70 minutes of play. Escribano, unassisted, turned a player and shot from outside the box clinically placing the ball into the keepers right corner. This finished the game from Waldorf with a convincing win over a tough opponent.
