Waldorf's Varsity Softball Team made the long trek out to the Knox School on Tuesday, May 7th. The journey was worthwhile with an important win by the score of 15 to 02.
"It was an important win for the team," remarked Coach LeSueur, "as we look to secure the 3rd place playoff spot.
Once again, senior co-captain Isabella Fraim gave an outstanding pitching performance along with some timely hitting. Behind the plate, serving as catcher, was sophomore Emma Wallace. Improving every game, Wallace was the only Waldorf player who successfully got on base at every one of her at bats.
Freshman Sabrina Persaud got her first start of the season at the right fielder position. "Persaud, in her first year of playing," said LeSueur, "is really starting to make solid contact at the plate contributing to advancing our runners into scoring position.
Junior Jaclyn Proctor had another all-around solid game both at bat and at the third base position. In fact, Coach LeSueur moved Proctor to the pitcher's mound for the final two innings while Fraim moved to Proctor's third base position. Proctor's homerun was one of the highlights of her play on this day.
Junior MariaAnna Paone - who usually catches for Fraim - moved to play second base for this game. The experience will serve her and the team well as Waldorf heads toward playoff week.
Junior center fielder Rachel Bossuk continues making good contact at the plate. Bossuk hit some solid shots which would have made for extra bases most times; however, the Knox team was well positioned.
Senior co-captains Anne Flomenhaft and Katarina D'Ercole were consistent throughout - both making outstanding plays in the field.
