Event Recap:

Waldorf's Varsity Girls Basketball Team extended their IPPSAL record with a 45–23 win over Our Savior New American. The evening was made even more special as it was Senior Recognition Night and gave the players, coaches and loyal fans the opportunity to honor the four seniors playing in their final home game: senior co-captain Carolyn Smalls, a 4-year player and 3-year starting guard; senior co-captain Isabella Fraim, a 4-year player and starting power forward; Alison DiLello, a 3-year player and forward; and first year senior guard Katarina D’Ercole.

All four seniors started for the first time this year and put the team out front in the first quarter. With a 09–06 lead, the second quarter was started by juniors Jaclyn Proctor, Ajanai Miller Randolph, Sofia Trikas and Marianna Paone plus one of the underclassman. At the end of the half, the score was 24–17.

The leading scorers for the game were Waldorf's two centers - junior Miller Randolph led with 10 points followed by senior co-captin Fraim with 9 points.

Returning from injury, senior Alison DiLello demonstrated her scoring ability early on and ended the game with six points. Junior guard Marianna Paone recorded a career high of 6 points and led the team in assists. Junior Jaclyn Proctor contributed 5 points. Sophomore power forward Mikayla Ver Pault played outstanding defensively and contributed 4 points in traffic. The remaining points were scored by sophomore Nicole Tsai (2 points), junior Sofia Trikas (2 points) and senior Carolyn Smalls (1 point).

"Every player on the roster is getting quality game experience," remarked Coach LeSueur. "The offensive point production of our starters could be greater if they played more minutes, but Coach Brown and I feel that at this point in the season, we are more concerned with each and every player getting quality 'court-time' as preparation for the the tougher schedule and playoffs ahead."
