Event Recap:

Waldorf's Middle School Boys Soccer Team opened their 2013 season with a visit to Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School's turf field in Brookville, NY.

The boys came out strong and started the pressure offense with several shots before scoring the first goal at the 23:07 mark to take a 01-00 lead on a well placed through-pass from 7th grader and forward Simon Davis to 8th grader and midfielder Aidan Akaba-Koubel. Solid defense and goalkeeping from 8th grader Eric Beauvais shut down LuHi to close out the first half.

The Waldorf offensive pressure continued in the second half and 8th grade forward Boris Epie scored at the 5:38 mark on a feed from 7th grade midfielder Noah Negri for a 02-00 Waldorf lead. LuHi broke through just over a minute later, making the score 02-01. In the following eighteen minutes, Waldorf answered back. Akaba-Koubel made his second score when LuHi’s goalie misplayed the ball - and scored again - to complete the "hat-trick" off a pass from Epie. Beauvais, now playing midfield, took another Epie feed and scored a goal for a 05-01 Waldorf lead.

LuHi closed out the game with two goals in the final three minutes off of loose ball scrambles for the final 05-03 Waldorf victory. First half goalie Beauvais and second half goalie 8th Grader Issac Stume combined for 7 saves. Waldorf outshot LuHi 15 to 10, but more impressive was that every player was given an opportunity to play defense, midfield and forward positions - and did so very admirably.
