For the second time in a week, Waldorf's Middle School Boys Soccer Team played against Long Beach Catholic (LBC) Regional School and looked to vindicate the September 26th loss.
The match was very tight from the beginning. Both teams mounted offensive strikes only to be turned away by good defensive play and strong goalkeeping. But Waldorf broke-through when 7th grade midfielder Jackson Tompkins passed the ball to 8th grade forward Boris Epie who beat the LBC goalie to the opposite post. When halftime came, it was Waldorf-1, Long Beach Catholic-0.
Waldorf started the second half energized and worked quickly. Epie received a lead pass from 8th grade midfielder Maurico Paz and scored his second goal for a 02-00 Waldorf lead. LBC countered on a well placed square pass to their forward, who one-touched the ball by 8th grade goalkeeper Erik Beauvais to make the score 02-01.
Both teams continued to attack and counterattack, but Waldorf's defenses held up. Beauvais, playing the entire game as goalie, recorded 8 saves, and the defense of 8th grade sweepers Sean Sullivan, and stopper Issac Stume, and 7th grade wing defenders Simon Davis and Christian Kritas held LBC in check.
The midfield was controlled by 8th graders Aidan Akaba-Koubel, Jake Benn, Paz, and 7th graders Brennan Bates, Noah Negri, Harry Semremitis and Tompkins. Up front, 8th graders Epie, and Daniel LePorin, and 7th grader Alessandro Rossi forced 9 saves from the LBC goalie. Waldorf outshot LBC 21-11.
