Event Recap:

Waldorf's Middle School Boys Soccer Team hosted Buckley Country Day School on Thursday, October 24th after the eventful Red and Blue Day activities.

Missing several players and feeling a little tired, the boys had a difficult first half. Buckley took advantage and scored the first goal. Waldorf countered on an inside feed from 7th grade forward Jackson Tompkins to 8th grade forward Aidan Akaba-Koubel and tied the score at 01-01. Buckley regained the lead on a long shot from midfield and moved back on top 01-02. They also closed out the first half scoring off a corner kick goal for the 01-03 lead.

In the second half, Waldorf shook off their fatigue. Akaba-Koubel managed to beat the Buckley goalkeeper to bring the score to 02-03. He then took another inside pass from 7th grade forward Alessandro Rossi and beat the goalkeeper to the far post to tie the match at 03-03.

Buckley pressed on and retook the lead at the 10:32 mark to make the score 03-04. Undeterred, Waldorf pressed on. Akaba-Koubel took a pass from 7th grade defender Simon Davis and put the ball past the goalie from about 30 yards out to tie the score once again at 4-4. Less than 2 minutes later, 7th grade midfielder Noah Negri laid the ball out to the right corner for Akaba-Koubel, who beat a defender and fired a shot to the opposite post for the final goal and the 05-04 win.

Kudos on a well deserved hard win!
