The main task of the sixth grade woodworking class is to create a spoon and fork set out of a piece of green cherry wood from Glen Brook. Students compare different samples of spoons to help them choose a design for their own utensils. Then begins the process of hatching, sizing, roughing, sanding and oiling. The end result is a beautiful set of woodenware, as well as a deeper understanding of convex and concave shapes.
