The Monadnock Literary & Arts Festival is an inspiring occasion of the firstorder.”

—Baron Wormser, former poet laureate of the State of Maine

Glen Brook has been the host to several cultural events including the annual Monadnock Literary & Arts Festival which invites writers, artists, actors, musicians – and participants – to celebrate the effects of place on our daily lives. Whether we live in city neighborhoods, the suburbs, exurbs, or rural landscape, our environment affects who we are: our choice of music and entertainment, our outdoor adventures and our culinary tastes, even the friends we choose. Artists and writers and visitors are invited to Glen Brook’s Marlborough, NH, campus to celebrate three days of the arts – writer discussions and readings, artist presentations, and musical performances.

Previous visiting artists have included:

  • Verlyn Klinkenborg, New York Times writer and author of The Rural Life
  • Alexandra Zissu, New York Times ‘Style’ writer and author of The Conscious Kitchen
  • Walter Butts, New Hampshire Poet Laureate
  • Ved Mehta, Fellow, Royal Society of Literature, former staff writer of The New Yorker and author of The Red Letters
