Waldorf Gets the A Capella Bug -
Mr. Fallu to Perform with Satellite Lane at Regional Harmony Sweepstakes Competition

The Waldorf School of Garden City is proud to announce that Mr. Andrew Fallu, Waldorf’s music and choral teacher – and his a capella singing group "Satellite Lane" – will perform and compete in the March 30th New York Regional competition of the Harmony Sweepstakes.

"Out of the 100+ groups that applied for the New York regional this year, only ten were chosen to compete," said Mr. Fallu. "My friends and I in Satellite Lane are so proud to be one of them!"

Harmony Sweepstakes is a post-colliegate, semi-professional and professional a capella music festival and competition. For over a quarter century, the Harmony Sweepstakes has been delighting audiences and was the inspiration for the hit NBC show The Sing-Off. The winning group of each region receives an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles, California in order to compete in the national finals.

"In addition," remarked Mr. Fallu, "there are awards for runner up, third place, best original song and audience favorite."

Mr. Fallu’s seven-member singing group – Satellite Lane – is made up of music teachers from Long Island and Connecticut. "We sing our own arrangements and perform jazz, contemporary pop, oldies, originals, songs from the 90s and more."

The New York regional competition of the Harmony Sweepstakes will take place at 7:00pm on Saturday, March 30th at the Miller Theater at Columbia University (2960 Broadway – at 116th Street – in New York City). Tickets are $24.00 per person in advance (or $27.00 per person at the door) and can be purchased online. Senior citizen and student discounts are available and group discounts ($22 per person for 10 or more people) are also available by calling the box office directly at (212) 854-7799. Doors to the Miller Theater will open at approximately 6:30pm.

"The house usually sells out so I recommend buying in advance. Each group performs a ten minute set of three or more songs with added choreography and staging."
