Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Lawrence Woodmere Academy
Event Type: Regular (League event)
Advantage:Away
Date: September 11, 2013
Result:Loss
Score:01-03
Event Recap:

Waldorf’s Varsity Boys Soccer Team suffered their first defeat of the season on Wednesday afternoon when they took on Lawrence Woodmere Academy (LWA). It was a very close battle; however, it was LWA that would prevail. Waldorf held their own for the first half and had a number of opportunities. The score was 00-00 at half time.

Waldorf started the second half without junior Sheppard Somers, a key defender, and his presence in the centre of the defense was certainly missed. For the first 20 minutes of the second half, Waldorf kept it together but tiredness began to set in and eventually LWA took advantage of a weary defense and scored. The confident and energetic LWA kept coming and with 5 minutes left, Waldorf was down, 00-03.

But in the last 5 minutes of the game, Waldorf showed their character. A corner kick was swung into LWA’s box, cheekily flicked in by senior co-captain Peter Escribano and bounced just at the feet of junior Deepjot Singh Sohal before he hammered it home to make the score 01-03. Waldorf kept the pressure on and came close again before the final whistle. Unfortunately, it was too late for the boys and LWA walked away with the victory.
