Middle School Boys Soccer vs. St. Elizabeth School
Event Type: Regular
Date: October 8, 2013
Event Recap:

Waldorf's Middle School Boys Soccer Team traveled to Cedar Creek Park in Seaford, N.Y. to face St. Elizabeth School.

After a quick warm-up, Waldorf jumped out early. Forty seconds into the game, 8th grade midfielder Aidan Akaba-Koubel made the first goal on an inside feed from 7th grade forward Noah Negri to take a 01–00 lead. Waldorf maintained the offensive pressure. Four minutes later, 8th grade midfielder Erik Beauvais took credit for a goal when he crossed the ball in front of St. Elizabeth's goal and the defender accidentally headed it in for the "own goal" score and 02-00 Waldorf lead. Waldorf's midfield and defense put up a wall that St. Elizabeth failed to penetrate.

In the second half, Waldorf took the 03-00 lead when the ball came out from a chaotic scramble and 8th grade forward Daniel LePorin beat the goalie to the far post. Another loose ball clutter on the left wing released the ball to the top of the goal box and 8th grade midfielder Maurico Paz beat the goalie to the near post to increase the lead to 4-0.

Akaba-Koubel closed out the scoring when he collected the ball at midfield, dribbled to the top right side of the goal box, and beat the goalie to the far post for the 05-00 Waldorf win. For the remaining seventeen minutes of the game, the Waldorf defense and midfield sustained their impassable barricade. When the game was over, Waldorf outshot St. Elizabeth 12-01. Thanks to the strong Waldorf defensive wall, 7th grade goalkeeper Brennan Bates did not have to record any saves. And every Waldorf player was given the opportunity to play multiple positions.
