7th Grade Class Trip Packing List

Since weather conditions can vary widely, we recommend layering clothing rather than bringing one-purpose clothing. Cotton clothing, such as jeans and sweatshirts have no insulating properties when wet, while synthetics and wool dry quickly and continue to insulate. On long hikes when there is the possibility of being caught in a rain storm it is imperative that students can stay dry and warm. Temperatures could approach freezing at night and we intend to do some stargazing. This is an active outdoor program and valuable clothing or jewelry is highly discouraged. Clothing with tasteful pictures or writing is acceptable. All clothing should be marked with student's name. All prescription and over-the-counter medications need to be given to the teacher in a plastic bag clearly marked with student's name and instructions for administration. The school nurse needs to know of any medical conditions.

A paper-bagged lunch, snack, and beverage for the bus ride north. Containers should be disposable.
