8th Grade at Morgan Library and Broadway

The 8th Grade complemented their Chemistry main lesson block with a tour of the exhibit, It’s Alive! Frankenstein at 200, at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City

It seems that Dr. Frankenstein was a student of Chemistry, or maybe Alchemy?, before he began his attempts to assemble a human being. The Morgan Library’s fascinating exhibit of the original draft, first edition and movie posters based on Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus, was a great treat for the 8th grade before lunch in Bryant Park Winter Village on Wednesday, December 12th. Then the class enjoyed an acclaimed musical at the Gerald Schoenfeld theater, the award-winning Come From Away. Sung and spun together are the true stories of the passengers from 38 airplanes diverted to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, following the 9/11 Attacks. Passengers and Newfoundlanders made lasting friendships that endure to this day. Thanks to our not-so-drowsy super chaperones, Mr. Fallu, Mrs. Stemkoski, Mrs. Kreft and Mr. Flood and to the 8th graders who did a fine job sticking together and navigating the busy mid-town foot traffic, while learning much about science, and the high and low notes of human nature.
