The 8th grade has started their weekly trips to Crossroads Farm. The first lesson helped the students understand local farming–both the benefits and the challenges. Every tomato and bunch of basil harvested and sold, helps to support the farm. However, before that can happen supplies must be purchased and the staff and other bills paid.
With that in mind, we carefully harvested the vegetables, then documented the date and the weight. After that, we set up a table in the market to sell them. Crossroads is an organic farm and also a market where local produce is sold. We walked through the marketplace and read the many local addresses on the products. Our work today helped Crossroads Farm make some profit. Nice job 8th grade in supporting your local organic farm.
