Adopt-A-Platoon!

5thgrade-stockingOn December 12th, the High School Community Service Club, led by High School Science teacher Carolyn Ver Pault, collected, assembled, and shipped around 100 filled stockings to deployed troops through the organization, Adopt-a-Platoon. Founded in 1998, the volunteer based nonprofit serves America’s troops from all branches of the military and their families by “ensuring that they are not forgotten by a grateful Nation.” Read more about Adopt-a-Platoon at adoptaplatoon.org.

Students and faculty worked together to fill the stockings with a variety of goods including; candy, black socks, hot chocolate and cider packs, puzzles and games, and travel-sized toiletries. Additional toiletries, games, candy, socks and New Year decorations were also sent. It was a wonderful day of collaboration in the true spirit of the holiday season in an effort to improve the quality of life for these most deserving military personnel.
