Congratulations to 8th grade student Caitlin Li, who won first prize in the middle school student category for her “Love Your Body Campaign” poster! Last school year, Caitlin and other 7th and 8th grade students created posters during the Waldorf School’s annual Gender Week Project as part of an effort to promote healthy, positive body images. Posters were entered into The National Organization for Women (NOW) Foundation’s poster contest to celebrate the Love Your Body Campaign. The winning poster will be featured on the NOW website and used to promote Love Your Body events.
Winning posters were chosen based on how well they counteracted the media’s use of narrow, unrealistic, negative images of women and/or challenged advertisers that profit from women’s dissatisfaction with their bodies. Special consideration was given to posters that demonstrate beauty as not limited by body size, body type, ethnicity, age or physical appearance.
