Varsity Boys Soccer Game, Away
September 16, 2016 @ 5:15 pm - 8:00 pm EDT
Waldorf win 5-1
The Waldorf boys varsity soccer team improved their record to 3-1 this afternoon as they beat a physical and determined St. Demetrious team 5-1. It took 20 minutes for Waldorf to find the back of the net and it was their Senior defensive midfielder Harry Kang to capitalized from just inside the box off a pass from Junior William Clauss. St. Demetrious came back and scored not long after Waldorf’s first goal when a player of theirs struck a rocket past GK Isaac Stumme from 30 yards out.
Waldorf did not let this faze them and kept pushing forward with some great plays from Juniors Aidan Koubel and Erik Beauvais. It was only 5 minutes after conceding the St. Demetrious goal that Freshman Luka Albano put Waldorf back ahead as he volleyed the ball home off a fabulous cross by Junior Sean Sullivan.
Just before half time St. Demetrious were awarded a penalty kick when a player of theirs was fouled inside the box. Junior Isaac Stumme came up big and saved the penalty keeping Waldorf spirits high as they entered the half time break.
Waldorf started the second half strongly and after 20 minutes Juniors Boris Epie and Sean Sullivan linked up beautifully to give Sullivan a one touch finish around the goalie. Just 5 minutes later Junior Aidan Koubel smashed a rocket into the top right corner of the goal as he was fed a pass by classmate Erik Beauvais.
It was then Junior Beauvais’ turn to add to the final tally as he won possession and dribbled the ball from his own half through their midfield and defense before clinically slotting the ball around the St. Demetrious goalie. It was the icing on the cake for Waldorf as they headed home with another convincing win.
