Jonathan Gill Receives 2015 Parent Association Scholarship

The Waldorf School of Garden City is proud to announce that Jonathan Gill, a graduating senior in the high school, is the recipient of the 2015 Parent Association Senior Scholarship $3,500 Award.

Through annual fundraisers – such as the Fall Fair and Photo Day – the Parent Association raises funds for School activities, such as the Parent Association Senior Scholarship and the annual Wish List. In addition to writing a compelling essay, criteria for the Parent Association Senior Scholarship Award includes a student’s academic record, participation in Waldorf’s programs and activities, and participation in the work of community, social or charitable organizations.

A graduating senior at the Waldorf School of Garden City, Jonathan has attended the private, independent school since nursery. He is a resident of West Hempstead and spends his free time fencing, where he is nationally ranked at the Division I level in Foil. In addition to tutoring younger students at the Waldorf School, Jonathan spent much of last year at neighboring Adelphi University where he engaged in optics research under the supervision of Professor Sean Bentley. He is also enrolled in the prestigious Simons Research Fellowship Program at Stony Brook University, where he worked in the Laser Teaching Center with Dr. John Noe and Professor Harold Metcalf.

This upcoming September, Jonathan will attend Harvard University. His award can be applied towards additional college expenses such as books and supplies.
