Middle School Boys Soccer vs. St. Agnes School

The Middle School Boys Soccer Team improved their season record to 2-0 after a 02-01 win over St. Agnes on Tuesday September 25th. This was a very physical game against a very worthy opponent and St. Agnes did not give up this loss easily.

The boys came out strong in the first half but St. Agnes dominated a lot of the play. Waldorf’s defense stepped up massively and repelled every attack that came their way. The game was tied 00-00 at half time as the tired and worn out boys came off the field.

In the second half, the Waldorf boys came alive and started to possess and distribute the ball with more accuracy and urgency. It was 15 minutes into the second half when 7th grader Erik Beauvais comfortably took control of the ball inside the opponent box and calmly slotted the ball into the goalkeeper’s right corner.

Waldorf now bunkered down and defended tightly as St. Agnes came at them again and again. The boys stood their ground and on a lucky break away, 8th grader Eric Mundy made a great run up the field to make himself one on one with the goalkeeper. Mundy clinically finished the ball into the goalkeeper’s left corner and Waldorf went up 02-00.

With 2 minutes remaining, St. Agnes made a final surge at the goal and scored from a corner kick. Waldorf kept it together though and held on to the 02-01 win.

Peter LePorin (8th grade) was awarded the “man-of-the-match” award for his tireless hard work helping our defense and breaking down attack after attack. Trevor Beale (8th grade), Waldorf’s second half goalkeeper made some tremendous saves to keep Waldorf in the game.
