Middle School Boys Soccer vs. St. Joseph’s School

The Middle School Boys Soccer Team got their season off to a great start with a confident 05-00 win over St. Joseph’s. Every Waldorf player on the 15 man roster got a lot of playing time and everyone contributed massively in this great win for Waldorf!

“Having been beaten by St. Joseph’s at the start of last season,” said Coach Flanagan, “this year we took to the field with a point to prove.”

7th grader Erik Beauvais got the first goal of the game. “It was a great 6-yard finish off a lovely cross sent in by new comer Jun Kil Seong (8th grade).” The second goal of the game came from 40 yards out when Co-Captain Max Pascucci spotted the St. Joseph’s goalkeeper off his line and cheekily lobbed the ball over his head and into the back of the net. It was a very intelligent play from a very intelligent Waldorf player.

Next on the score sheet was Seong, who from outside the goalkeepers box, struck a shot that curled into the bottom corner past a helpless St. Joseph goal keeper. The forth and final goal for the first half came again from Pascucci. This time it was a perfectly placed free kick that dipped again over the keepers head and hands and into the back of the net.

As the second half began, Waldorf took their feet off the pedal a little and concentrated more on keeping possession of the ball, working on their passing and movement. 8th grader Eric Mundy got through on goal with just the keeper to beat from a great through ball pass from Pascucci. Mundy slotted the ball into the bottom corner and that goal wrapped it up for the Waldorf boys. 05-00, job done!

“Man of the Match” award goes to Pascucci with his two goals and assist. Other notable players were 7th graders Aidan Akaba-Koubel and Isaac Stumme who played solidly in mid-field and defense respectively. Also 8th graders Peter LePorin and newcomer Karlos Acosta played extremely well and kept the Waldorf boys moving forward up the field.
