Middle School GIrls Basketball vs. Buckley Country Day School

Waldorf’s Middle School Girls Basketball Team traveled to the Buckley Country Day School and came up short in a well contested game, falling 26-33. In the first quarter, Waldorf simply couldn’t seem to find their rhythm. Buckley came out strong scoring 9 points. 7th grader Emma Keane was the only Waldorf player to score (2 points). The second quarter was a mirror image of the first as Buckley again scored 9 points and Keane scored the only basket for Waldorf. “At half time,” said Coach Brown, “I said to the girls that we needed to step it up defensively and that our offense would fall into place.” In the third quarter, Waldorf came out strong and scored 12 points holding Buckley to only 4. 8th grader Abby Picoli scored 4 points, Keane scored 4 points, and 8th graders Bilan-Ardo Ali and Phoebe Akaba-Koubel each scored a basket. In the fourth quarter, both teams came out strong. In the final 2:00 minutes of the game, Picoli scored 6 points 7th grader Kate Keane scored two, and 7th grader Fiona Somers hit two free throw. Unfortunately, Waldorf could not hold off Buckley’ss pressure. Emma Keane and Picoli both finished with a game high 10 points.
