Middle School Girls Soccer vs. East Woods School

The Middle School Girls Soccer Team played a fantastic match against the East Woods School. Each player worked extremely hard throughout the entire game and the girls really played together as a team. In the first half, there were several scoring opportunities by Conchetta Bohm (7th grade), Emma Keane (7th grade) and Phoebe Akaba-Koubel (8th grade). Bohm made a great cross from the right side of the field across the goal to Emma who had a one-touch volly shot but unfortunately, just missed the goal. Akaba-Koubel had an opportunity on a corner kick to score a goal, but the East Woods goalie was there to save her shot. The defense, including Ardo Ali (8th grade), Cailyn Hobbs (8th grade), Luna Splendori (8th grade), and Amanda Sorensen (7th grade), did a great job in the first half holding East Woods to no goals.

In the second half, both teams came out with scoring goals in mind. Waldorf started it off Akaba-Koubel scoring a goal on a cross from teammate Emma Keane. Unfortunately, a few mintues later, East Woods tied the game. “Both teams played a tremendously intense game and the Waldorf girls really did a great job at communicating and improved their passing to one another,” said Coach Reyes. In the end, East Woods had the final goal of the game in the last five minutes. “Both players and coaches were very proud of how all of the girls played! Keep up the great work!”
