College Counseling

Welcome! My name is Brian DiUbaldo and I am the college and guidance counselor at The Waldorf School of Garden City. I work closely with you, your families, and your teachers throughout your time here at the High School to make sure that you attend the higher institutions of your choice.

The small school community allows me to personalize your counseling program based on your individual needs. The college conversation begins in the ninth grade, when I meet with you to discuss your post-secondary goals and conduct assessments to identify weak points to improve upon and strengths to reinforce upon. You and your family will learn early on that actions now can hugely impact your future. I will continue to get to know each of you on an individual basis through workshops and meetings during your sophomore year. Our personal interactions will form a solid basis for letters of recommendation that uniquely reflect who you are.

We will work even more closely during your junior and senior years to plan for standardized tests, identify colleges to fit your needs, and create your application profile. Along the way, you will be able to speak individually to college admissions representatives, who are invited to the school to offer a glimpse of what their colleges have to offer and answer any questions you have about the admissions process. While they are here, they also learn about our educational philosophy and experience firsthand what makes our students truly special and an asset to any college campus.

Your teachers, advisors and I understand that you will pursue a spectrum of interests while at the school and be eager to continue them in college. Our familiarity with a wide variety of colleges and universities are tailored to help you choose the academic future that will address your every need. From research universities and liberal arts colleges, to design schools or conservatories, or even to interdisciplinary programs that combine fiber arts and economics, we provide the support and expertise to help you achieve the best possible outcome.

The Waldorf School of Garden City prides itself on graduating students who are well-prepared for college and beyond. As a member of our community, you will join a cohort of students who are well-equipped to navigate the rigor of college academics and the social atmosphere of the college campus. After you graduate, the teamwork and critical thinking skills you develop here at the School will help you achieve success in all your career endeavors.

The college process is complex and demanding. This website contains literature designed to inform and prepare you and your family for every aspect of this journey. I am also available at any time to address questions or concerns.

I look forward to meeting you and your family in person.
