Waldorf's Varsity Girls Soccer Team got back on track defeating Lawerence Woodmere Academy (LWA) 03-00 and is now 2-1 on the season.
Waldorf took command from the opening minutes, firing off six shots before senior tri-co-captain Sofia Trikas, on a beautiful feed from sophomore Skyla Davis, scored her first of two goals on the day. Trikas second goal came before the half and started when fellow senior tri-captain Jaclyn Proctor won the ball defensively. Proctor then found senior Marianna Paone who drew the goalkeeper out of the box before slotting to Trikas for the score.
Eighth-grader Conchetta Bohm made important contribution up top, and came close to giving Waldorf another goal before the half with a free kick just outside the box that was saved by the LWA goalkeeper.
The defensive combination of sophomore Julia Gonzalez, freshmen Ardo Ali, Luna Splendori and eighth grader Fiona Somers preserved the shutout. Sophomore goalkeeper Maria Golebiewski recorded five save.
Paone hit a one time volley to the upper ninety mid-way through the second half that give Waldorf the 03-00 lead.
Head coach Kim Wyant commented that "the kids bounced back nicely from the lose on Friday, and now we have to get ready for a very tough match against Long Island Lutheran High School."
The game will take place in Friday, September 27 at 4:30pm at Waldorf.
