Samuel Resnick Receives 2014 Parent Association Scholarship

The Waldorf School of Garden City is proud to announce that Samuel Resnick, a senior in the high school, is the recipient of the 2014 Parent Association Senior Scholarship $3,500 Award.

Through annual fundraisers – such as the Fall Fair and Photo Day – the Parent Association raises funds for School activities, such as the Parent Association Senior Scholarship and the annual Wish List. In addition to writing a compelling essay, criteria for the Parent Association Senior Scholarship Award includes a student’s academic record, participation in Waldorf’s programs and activities, and participation in the work of community, social or charitable organizations.

Sam has marveled the School community with a perfectly accented rendition of Hamlet’s Act III-Scene II “Speak the Speech” monologue, dominated his opponents with grit and determination on Waldorf’s Varsity Boys Soccer and Baseball Teams, and developed a supremely successful landscaping business to support his insatiable thirst for building carts, cars, and gadgets of every size and shape. During his most recent endeavor, Sam restored a 1968 Pontiac GTO on a small budget; learning to weld and machine several of the more expensive parts himself. This upcoming September, Sam will attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he plans to pursue a course of study in mechanical engineering. His award can be applied towards additional college expenses such as books and supplies.
