Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Alumni

The Varsity Boys Basketball Team always looks forward to the annual Varsity vs. Alumni Basketball Game and this year’s game took place in the middle of the season. “It helps our team measure up against the talent of Waldorf’s past,” said Coach (and proud Waldorf alumnus) Marcus Boyd ’04. “The Waldorf alumni always bring out the best in our varsity players and this helps our team compete at a higher level as we prepare for the second half of the season and the IPPSAL playoffs.

For this year’s game, the Varsity team played hard. For the first three-and-a-half quarters, the game was close. Challenging the alumni for every possession, the Varsity team did not back down from their bigger and stronger opponents.

Remarked Coach Boyd, “The Varsity team applied defensive pressure and we were able to create numerous turnovers for fastbreak points. The boys were also able to box-out and snatch down some defensive rebounds. However, the Alumni team used their size to muscle a lead in the fourth quarter.”

“The varsity boys still played hard and confident until the final buzzer,” said Coach Boyd. “And at the end of the game, the alumni were very pleased with the hardwork and competiveness that the boys played. All-in-all, it was a great game! My thanks to the alumni for coming back to help us take our game to another level.
