Waldorf Announces New Head Coach for Varsity Boys Basketball Team

The Waldorf School of Garden City is pleased to announce Mr. Gregory Lott as the new Head Coach of the Waldorf School of Garden City Varsity Boys Basketball Team.

Coach Lott played forward for the Malverne Mules, helping them win the 2007 New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Class B Men’s Basketball Championship during his senior year. Following high school, Coach Lott attended Lane College in Tennessee, where he majored in sociology and also played for their Men’s Basketball Team. Over the course of his career with the Lane College Dragons, Coach Lott earned the distinction of scoring over 1,000-points and was nominated for a national Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Player-of-the-Week Award. For Coach Lott, playing Division II basketball at a small college was one of the best experiences in his life.

“The whole family tradition of playing, traveling, and visiting other HBCU schools had a huge impact on me. I look forward to bringing that close-knit cohesiveness to my time here at Waldorf,” said Lott.

When not playing or coaching basketball or football, Coach Lott has worked as a counselor and mentor in a variety of settings from Catholic Charities and Mercy First to the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and the Howard T. Herber Middle School in his hometown of Malverne, New York.

“We are thrilled to have Coach Lott join our coaching staff,” sait Athletic Director, Shane Flanagan. “He brings a lot of coaching experience and enthusiasm that the Varsity boys will be able to benefit from.”
