Visiting Morning at The Waldorf School

Join us for a Visiting Morning in the Middle School for Students Entering 5th through 8th Grade!

This event will take place on Wednesday, November 13th starting at 8:00 am

Students entering 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade and their parents are invited to spend the morning in a “Main Lesson.” Parents will also have the opportunity to discuss curriculum with Kelly O’Halogan, Faculty Chair or Janelle Beardsley, Lower School Chair, and Ann Mulvehill, Admissions Director.

The event will end at approximately 10:00 am

Kelly O’Halogan  •  Faculty Chair

Kelly O’Halogan has been working in Waldorf Education for many years. After receiving Waldorf Teacher Training from the Sunbridge Institute, Kelly went on to teach grades 1-8 at the Waldorf School of Santa Barbara and the Portland Waldorf School. She later served as Faculty Chair at the Portland Waldorf School before joining Garden City in 2018. Prior to Waldorf, Kelly graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Oregon and served as Director of Purchasing for a real estate developer. Kelly has a daughter who is a member of the Waldorf class of 2025.


Janelle Beardsley  •  Lower School Chair

Janelle Beardsley received a B.A. in American Studies and Spanish from Rutgers University. She later trained at the Sunbridge Institute in Chestnut Ridge, NY and received her certification in Waldorf Education.

After her training at Sunbridge, Janelle became a class teacher at the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School in Newtown, CT, where she taught for 15 years before joining the Waldorf School of Garden City in 2016 as a Middle School Teacher and, subsequently, Lower School Chair. In addition to her responsibilities at the Waldorf School of Garden City, Janelle is a market gardener. She has been selling flowers and herbs from her family’s organic farm, Guy’s Eco-Garden in Shelton CT, for over 30 years.

Ann Mulvehill • Admissions Director, Grades 4-12

Ann Mulvehill received her Undergraduate Degree in Marketing from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Hofstra University. Ann is a graduate of the Winkler Center for Adult Learning Foundation Studies Program. The program includes study of the philosophical and pedagogical works of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Waldorf Education.

Ann joined the Administrative Team in 2015 in the Development Office and took on the role of Enrollment Director, Grades 4-12 in 2017.

Ann is the parent of two Waldorf graduates who are thriving at Colby College and Tuft’s University. She appreciates the value of a Waldorf Education and feels great satisfaction in helping new families find their way to the School!
