Waldorf Students Organize Toy Drive to Help Children in Need

Waldorf students in Mrs. Soloway’s 7th grade class recently led and completed a very successfully Toy Drive during the first week of October. The class teamed up with Second Chance Toys, an organization that rescues and reuses gently used plastic toys in order to help the environment and children in need. The students collected plastic toy donations from the Waldorf community, cleaned them, and tagged them with special messages. As thanks, we received the following note from 7th grade organizer Luna Splendori:

Thank you to all who participated in the Second Chance Toys project.  It was fun to see all the toys as they came in daily. The seventh grade enjoyed collecting the contributions from all the boxes and then we cleaned and tagged each toy.

I was very proud to deliver two full car loads of toys to the SCO Family of Services Center with the help of Mrs. Dinah Bouchard-Gonzalez and my mother, Sandra Dalmazio.

I wish to send a special thank you to both Mrs. Soloway and my mother, Sandra Dalmazio, for helping to organize everything. I hope as a class we can accomplish many more projects like this to help people in need.
