Waldorf Watch: 8th Grade Visits Nassau County Supreme Court

On Wednesday, February 14th the 8th grade visited the Nassau County Supreme Court, led by two parents, Peter Ginsberg, partner at the law firm of Ginsberg & Bianco and Nicole Simmons  ’83 an arbitrator at the Law Office of Robert P. Tusa.

Students heard the assignment of cases and then were given an introduction to the courts by Hon. Bruce Cozzens, Jr., a Supreme Court justice for the 10th Judicial District. Mr. Ginsberg & Ms. Simmons also shared information about the judicial process and took questions from the students. The class then observed two civil cases, including an expedited trial adjudicated by Judge Cozzens. Afterwards, the judge explained the laws and took questions.

The students came away from the trip with a deeper understanding of the legal system and a deeper appreciation of the work of civil service, which complemented their American History Main Lesson Block that focused on the U.S Government.
