Waldorf Watch: Amanda Sorensen Earns Citiation at Adelphi Poetry Day

On Wednesday April 19th, eleven Waldorf School of Garden City High School Students participated in Adelphi University’s Annual Poetry Day. Students from across Long Island were invited to participate in the event which included poetry contests, open mic poetry slams, and a keynote presentation by Award winning poet Joseph O. Legaspi.

Junior Amanda Sorensen was awarded a citation by Adelphi for her poem, Magnificent, which she submitted to the competition. Congratulations to Amanda on her achievement!

Waldorf’s high school English teacher and creative writing club advisor, Alexios Kritas, said “I am incredibly proud of our students. They stepped up to the microphone and presented their poetry with heartfelt conviction and unflinching honesty. They were rewarded, not by a numerical grade, but by the genuine enthusiasm and applause of fellow teenage poets from across Long Island and Brooklyn.”
