Waldorf Watch: Eugene Hong is a 2021 YoungArts Classical Music Competition Winner

Eugene Hong - Grade 11

Congratulations to Junior Eugene Hong, who was named by the National YoungArts Foundation as a winner in Classical Music for the Piano!

YoungArts’ aim is to identify the most accomplished young visual, literary, and performing artists and provide them with professional development opportunities throughout their careers. The annual competition that spans ten different disciplines receives about 7000 applications per year. After a highly competitive application process, the top 8-9% become winners.

From the YoungArts Foundation, “YoungArts award winners gain access to one of the most comprehensive programs for artists in the United States in which they will have opportunities for financial, creative, and professional development support throughout their entire careers. Selected through the organization’s prestigious competition, YoungArts award winners are chosen for their caliber of artistic achievement by esteemed discipline-specific panels of artists through a rigorous blind adjudication process.

YoungArts applicants are between the ages of 15–18 or in grades 10–12, and each winner demonstrates outstanding artistic achievement in the visual, literary, or performing arts.

National YoungArts Foundation was established in 1981 by Lin and Ted Arison. YoungArts identifies the most accomplished young artists in the visual, literary, and performing arts, and provides them with creative and professional development opportunities throughout their careers.”

Way to go, Eugene, for this incredible achievement.
