UPDATE: Jeffrey is set to receive his award on News 12!

Congratulations to Freshman, Jeffrey Zhang for winning first place in a piano competition featuring the work of fellow Long Islander Billy Joel.

At the encouragement of our High School Jazz Band teacher, Steve DeBellis, Jeffrey entered the Grace Music School Piano competition. The contest required participants to submit entries of themselves performing a piece from Joel’s 2001 classical album, Fantasies & Delusions. Jeffery submitted a video of himself performing Joel’s “Waltz #3 (For Lola).” Of the 25 total submissions, Jeffery was one of 8 competitors selected to perform at the final this past Saturday, April 1st. For his performance, Jeffrey was awarded first place which included a cash prize of $1,000 and an opportunity to perform at the music school’s concert on June 2, 2017 at Carnegie Hall. Congratulations Jeffrey!
