Waldorf Watch: Practice-a-thon Raises Over 2,000 for Winthrop Cancer Center for Kids

Throughout the months of March and April, the students of the Waldorf School of Garden City participated in a special music practice-a-thon, where they raised nearly $2,300 for the Winthrop Cancer Center for Kids. During the event, students collected pledges from family and friends based on the amount of time they practiced their instruments at home. The money was collected and formally presented to Dr. Mark Weinblatt, MD of the Winthrop Center on Thursday, May 17th by the Vice President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, Sydney Bossuk, and 6th Grader Hope Finazzo, who completed the most practice minutes at 1,080 raising $108.

The Music Department is very thankful for the generosity of our families, the hard work and dedication of the students, and the members of our Tri-M chapter for their support and encouragement throughout the process. It is because of all of these factors that we were able to donate this money and make a positive change for those children in need.
