Waldorf Watch: Sophomore Daniella Kata Chosen For Prestigious Mathematics Program

Sophomore Daniella Kata has been selected to participate in the Mathematics Summer Program at Stony Brook University through their Institute for STEM Education (I-STEM).  This selective program offers a unique opportunity for high school students to explore various fields of mathematics. Acceptance into the program is highly competitive, with only 32 students accepted each year.

The two-week residential camp is geared toward rising high school juniors or seniors interested in enriching their mathematics education.  Students will be exposed to advanced subjects including: the Knot and Number Theories, the mathematics of puzzles and games, Cryptography, finances, and statistics for the Biological Sciences. In addition, students will have the opportunity to learn to use MAPLE, an invaluable tool for anyone who is interested in studying Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Economics at the college level or beyond.

Daniella applied to the program in order to deepen her knowledge of mathematics and to support her interest in engineering and architecture.  Besides her academic interests, Daniella is an avid musician who enjoys playing the piano and the ukulele.

Congratulations to Daniella for this achievement!
