Waldorf Watch: Waldorf Freshman Selected for Prestigious Ballet Program

Freshman, Aimee Gallagher has been selected to participate in the Joffrey Ballet Intensive in New York City this summer. Aimee was selected for the prestigious program by Carolyn Zettel-Augustyn, the Director of the Classical School of Ballet LI (CSB) where Aimee is a student and where she completed her Level 3B ABT Ballet exam. She is one of eight students from the Classical School who will be participating in various premiere programs across the country.

According to the Joffrey Ballet website:

“The International Summer Dance Intensive at the Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet is a five-week intensive designed for the serious ballet student, ages 12 and older, who is aspiring to a professional dance career. Daily classes include ballet technique, pointe, variations, men’s class, partnering, and classical repertoire. The program will also include weekly classes in modern, jazz, body conditioning, character, contemporary repertoire, and Pilates.”

Aimee has been a student at the Waldorf School of Garden City since preschool. She was named as a “student to watch on Long Island” as reported in Newsday last April and was most recently the dance captain for our High School Musical, In The Heights, which was performed this past March.

Good luck and congratulations to Aimee on this achievement!
